What can we tell you about Everybody? Well – not much. We’d really like to preserve the many surprises we have in store. But - We can tell you that it’s about everybody and everything. It’s about life, death, time, the universe, live streaming, social media, race, identity politics, family, stuff, strength, beauty, friendship, senses and, most importantly, love and understanding. And gluten. Gluten gets a mention too. We can tell you that it was written by Tony Award winning American Playwright Branden Jacobs Jenkins and that it almost won the Pulitzer Prize in 2018. We can tell you that it’s funny, angry, moving and timely. We can tell you that it’s about an hour and twenty minutes long. Oh – and I think we should mention that at every performance five actors will have their roles assigned to them by a lottery that will take place right in front of you – so no cheating! This means that they will have no idea who they will be playing that night until the lottery. This also means that they’ve had to learn the entire script and be prepared for any role – including the lead. Which means that there are 120 possible combinations of performers and roles every night. We can tell you that The Huffington Post called it “theater rather unlike anything you might have seen…unusual, unconventional and eye-opening… not only provocative and involving, it is also funny. Wildly funny, in fact.” That’s all we’re going to tell you. No spoilers! So – what will you do when your number is called? Tickets are - £5 general £3 concession CAS staff/ student free Book your ticket through here and pay on the door. The show features mature themes throughout. A very special comedy show featuring the top femme acts in the scene. Featuring Maitreyi Karanth, Caro Chan, Cassi Thomas, Kate Hu, Jen Dunco, Bing Zhu, and Rose Rage! -Maitreyi Karanth an actor, producer took up stand-up comedy as just an extension of her real life persona, at the age of 44. Being married and having lived outside India for 22 years, first in the Middle East and now in Hong Kong, she has collected a treasure chest of funny experiences across different geographies and cultures. After her very second open mic she was spotted by Saurabh Pant who was then touring Hong Kong and asked to open for him. Since then she has opened for Tom Cotter, Gina Yashere, Atul Khatri, Amit Tandon, Tom Rhodes, Paul Ogatta and Sean Patton. She has also performed in Bangkok, Singapore and India as a featured comedian, and starred in the film My Indian Boyfriend (2021), now available on Disney+. -Founder of Chaotic Hong Kong Expats, Cassi FM chooses not to use her real last name because her family are already ashamed of her enough. Born and raised a Hong Kong gwai mui , Cassi's number one interest in life is a bar in Lan Kwai Fong called Stormies. Other interests include ranting to people on a range of issues that that pretty much always fall on deaf ears such as: Hong Kong politics, feminism and the correct way to eat hairy crab. She can be seen around town performing stand up comedy or on one of her hit web shows, You Can't Sit With Us or Excuse My English and is usually being mobbed by a crowd of adoring fans.In her spare time, Cassi enjoys making memes about english teachers on the internet. Cassi is a Hong Kong local though you wouldn't be able to tell it looking at her face and ability to wield an umbrella without poking out someones eyes. Her comedy style has been reviewed in quotes such as abrasive and i wasn't aware there was even a show going on and that girl seemed really sad . -Caro Chan is a dynamic half-Chinese, half-African comedian based in Hong Kong, known for her unique perspective and vibrant stage presence. With a playful charm and a smile that lights up the room, Caro brings a wealth of storytelling and performance skills to her comedy. She made her stand-up debut in September 2023, quickly captivating audiences with her sharp wit and relatable humor. Caro's performances often explore themes of cultural identity and the nuances of life in a diverse city, making her a fresh voice in the Hong Kong comedy scene. -Rose Rage has been doing comedy in Hong Kong since what seems like the beginning of time, but is actually only 13 years or so, mostly in pants. She’s a founding member of People’s Liberation Improv, and has performed with them in Beijing, Seoul, Manila, Macau, and Hong Kong, in pants. Although she never won, she was a finalist in TakeOut Comedy’s Funniest Person competition and has opened for Paul Ogata and Tom Cotter, in pants. Recently she decided to shake things up a bit and do standup without pants, but the horrified reaction of the audience led her to believe that performing in a dress would be…better. She hasn’t actually been on TV, but has watched more than nine programmes, both with and without pants. -Kate Hu developed her unique sense of humor by always talking back to her very Chinese parents growing up. She was fascinated the first time she came across Jerry Seinfeld and Louie CK's comedy on the internet, though the Great Firewall. After years of copycatting her favorite comedians' jokes to her friends, she was finally pushed to write and perform her own stuff. Kate's dream is to become the first comedy therapist. It's been working for her... so far. Information Source: Comedy HK - Zicket | eventbrite
