Registration is now open for coed teams in the 3.0, 3.5, 4.0+, and 55+ divisions. The cost to participate is $50 per team, a small price to pay for the opportunity to showcase your skills and compete against top-notch players. Each team consists of two players, making it a perfect opportunity to team up with a partner. The day will kick off with pool play, featuring age groups such as 3.0, 3.5, and 55+. Youth ages 10-15 can also participate in the doubles category, with medals awarded to the top three teams. It's a chance for young players to demonstrate their talent and compete for glory. Are you ready for some great Jiu Jitsu? because we are! Girls in Gis is a community of women and girls in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that come together through donation based training events. They are hosted, instructed, and attended only by women and girls. It's our time to come together! All ages and skill levels from any academy affiliation are welcome to attend. No experience required. Our events are designed for 100% participation, but do allow chaperones to accompany underage participants as spectators. Our events are donation based in order to provide equal opportunity to everyone. Your donations provide paid teaching opportunities for our guest instructor(s) and help to expand and make Girls in Gis programs such as our events, our leadership program and instructional training programs and our scholarships possible. If you are not able to make a donation please contact us and we will work with you so that you are able to participate. You can also purchase a GIG t-shirt, patches and more GIG merchandise with your donation. All orders can be picked up during the event. GIGOklahoma – BixbyGuest instructors: Melissa Mo Simms & Mahala Budnik Mahala Budnik is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt with over a decade of competition experience. She started training when she was 13 and has competed at Worlds, Pans, and on the F2W stage at various belt levels in both gi and no-gi. Jiu-Jitsu has been a huge part of her life, shaping her discipline, mindset, and approach to challenges on and off the mats. Melissa Mo Simms is a brown belt under Professor Omar French. She started training jiu jitsu 12 years ago at the age of 27. She has competed in various tournaments including IBJJF Master Worlds, Pans, and F2W. During which time she collected 20 medals including (12) Golds, 2X IBJJF Master Worlds bronze medalist, and 1X IBJJF Pan bronze medalist. Jiu jitsu has had the biggest impact on her on and off the mats. Not only has it provided her with tools to effectively defend myself as a woman, she was able to persevere through many difficult challenges that she overcame.
