Brought to you by Nine Arches Press and the WM Readers' Network Receive a copy of Beginning With Your Last Breath byRoy Mcfarlanein the post as part of your ticket price and prepare for friendly discussion, absorption in poetry and a creative writing workshop. Start the day gently with a spell of reading. Join a small group of other bookish people to experience the benefits of concentrated reading in Bantock House, Wolverhampton (the venue is on a bus route from Wolverhampton centre and has on-site parking). Roy McFarlanewill lead a writing workshop during the day's programme suitable for all, from absolute beginners to regular writers, as a gentle introduction into writing. In this workshop with John Davies and Rob Swinney, maths, science and engineering come together to show how humankind has reached the stars and beyond. Using the work of three great thinkers, Al-Karismi, Newton and Tsiolkovsky, students will use mathematical equations to work out all manner of things from how fast a skateboard travels to how long it will take to fly to distant stars. A truly astronomical day!
This workshop is strictly for 12–14 year-olds
and will include a 30 minute lunch break. Students should bring lunch and a drink.
