Learn how to create detailed, intricate etchings using our professional etching press. Working with artist and printmaker Wendy Roby in our cosy art studio, you’ll be using the work of Mary Blair, one of Disney’s foremost designer illustrators, as the inspiration for etchings of fantasy buildings. You’ll look at the paintings and illustrations Blair created for kitsch Disney rides like ‘It’s A Small World’, and use her stylised, playful illustration style to inform your own imaginary architecture... You don’t need to be able to draw, so doodlers are welcome! Wendy will guide you to create a simple etching plate, apply ink correctly and finally, use a professional etching press to make a colourful print to take home. Women who have just learnt to cycle - or those thinking about returning to cycling : join us for a very gentle and short bike ride along the Fallowfield Loop.We have bikes, a trike + helmets available to borrow for your first steps into group cycling.Meet : 9.45am @ The Station South 'Walk + Bike' container to get set up with your bike Depart : 10am Distance / speed / notes : We will cycle very slowly along the Fallowfield Loop for about 15 /20 minutes before making our return journey back to Station South. Please note - we have kept numbers for this ride at a minimum. You are more than welcome to cycle your own ride. Speeds will vary across the group! You'll use pre made screens to print your design and Bullseye opal and transparent glass, stringers, frit and copper to make your background. Artist Chan Foy will guide you through the process of making a unique piece of glass art including a print of your choice. This class is a lovely introduction to stone setting, using pieces of hand picked seaglass. You will create your own open bezel setting complete with bail and the option to add granulation details.
