About the event Our new initiative, the Made in Hungary Film Festival, is a celebration of Hungarian film culture and a promotional event series for the Hungarian film industry. The mission of the brand new festival is to introduce the diversity and richness of contemporary Hungarian cinema to the Los Angeles audience. Moviegoers will have the opportunity to discover the freshest films across various genres and themes that have attracted significant audiences in theatres and online, as well as those that have received critical acclaim. Made in Hungary is not just about films; it is about building bridges between cultures, sharing stories that touch our hearts, and experiencing the unique perspectives that Hungarian cinema and film industry have to offer. The film festival is organized by the National Film Institute of Hungary, in collaboration with the Liszt Institute New York. About the movie: Tamás Lefkovics, a generous and stubborn boxing coach (Zoltán Bezerédi), has had such a strained relationship with his son Iván (Tamás Szabó Kimmel) that they haven't spoken in years. Iván fled to Israel to escape the conflict with his father, where he now lives as an Orthodox Jew and has started a family, maintaining contact only with his mother (Ágnes Máhr) back in Budapest. When his mother dies unexpectedly, Iván returns home with his six-year-old son (Leo Gagel) to observe a week of mourning and shiva in his parents' house, in accordance with Jewish traditions. The two men represent clashing worlds, with the stakes being the potential reunification of their fractured family. Information Source: eventbrite
