On November 15, the National Museum of Korea opened its first dedicated exhibition room for the Oegyujanggak Uigwe. Located on the second floor of the National Museum of Korea’s permanent exhibition hall, this exhibition room is a space where visitors can only view the Oegyujanggak Uigwe, allowing them to fully experience the Oegyujanggak Uigwe.

This exhibition presents a series of scenes closely related to the landscape of ruins: a black pit at a long-abandoned, bankrupt construction site in Hamdeok, Jeju Island; a Malaysian beach after the 2004 South Asian tsunami; an ordinary swimming pool at the Dachau concentration camp in Germany during the 1944 Holocaust; and construction debris that had accumulated at an unknown time next to the artist's studio. Ahn Kyung-soo draws these images of ruins from scenes he witnessed firsthand or from historical footage, meticulously layering them on canvas. He incorporates multiple landscapes into each scene, ultimately creating a richly layered effect on the smooth surface.

This is the first solo exhibition in South Korea by Argentinian-Peruvian artist Adrián Villar Rojas.
