The 2026 Flower Festival unfolds with a simple yet powerful message: Medellín loves you. For ten days, the entire city will be immersed in an atmosphere of love, celebrating its rural traditions, neighborhood creativity, and the hospitality of its people. The hills, streets, and gardens will be filled with color, music, and encounters, reminding us that this is a city of love, hospitality, and mutual support. From July 31 to August 9, 2026, Medellín will host a grand festival celebration: the parade of floats will once again be the highlight, along with open-air concerts, flower exhibitions, children's performances with bouquets of flowers, traditional folk music, farmers' markets, local cuisine, and activities for all ages. Must-see events: Harvesters' Parade – A tribute to our harvesters, the guardians of tradition. National Troyes Music Festival – Experience improvisation and talent at Parque de los Deseos. Bloom: Orchids, Nature & Tradition – A floral feast at the Botanical Garden. Rhythm Cycling Festival – Explore the city with joy and color. Classic Car Parade – A journey through time on wheels. Young Writers' Camp is a 10-day summer program for rising 3rd-11th graders that inspires creative thinking and promotes a love of writing. Campers will experiment with different genres of writing for a variety of audiences and purposes. They will explore writing styles and methods of self-expression with new friends. Classes will be grouped with grade level bands, such as 3-5, 6-8, 9-11. Participating Young Writers: are challenged to grow and build self-confidence as writers. write in an environment designed to inspire creativity. receive individual attention in small groups from SDAWP writing teachers. meet and share writing in a multi-age classroom with young writers from throughout the county. engage in process writing: drafting, writing, revising, editing and publishing. publish and receive an anthology, including writing from each camper. develop writing skills as tools for self-expression. Cost is $800. Eventbrite service fees included, $50 non-refundable processing fee included. The last day to request a partial refund for this camp is June 22, 2026.
