Dave Cryer of Penrith Writers, will lead an evening of poetry with special guest Katie Hale, author of The Edge of Solitude and My Name is Monster. Katie's debut poetry collection White Ghosts has been described as 'unflinching, vulnerable, multilayered' and she is now a firmly established star in the constellation of Cumbria creatives and a shining light in the wider writing universe. The evening will have two sections from Katie, punctuated by 12 x 3min Open Mic slots and a final quickfire round of 60-second poems from the audience. The Hedgehog Bookshop will be selling Katie's books at the end for anyone who would like a signed copy - or copies! Light refreshments will be included in your ticket price, courtesy of Claire Dougherty and the team at Penrith Library. 18.45 - Arrive & mingle19.00 - Intro + Katie19.20 - Open Mic x 6 (3 mins max)19.40 - Break19.45 - Katie19.55 - Open Mic x 6 (3 mins max)20.15 - Quickfire Poets (1 min max)20.25 - Book signingOnce you have purchased your ticket, a drop-down menu will ask you whether you would like to request an Open Mic slot. You'll then be invited to pop your name into a box - or more than one name if you have more than one poet on your ticket! We can't guarantee that everyone who asks for a slot will get one, but if you miss out, then the Quickfire Poets section will give you a second chance of a reading slot - 60 seconds maximum for this part and we'll get through as many as we can with priority going to those who haven't read in the previous Open Mic slots. Hope that makes sense and sounds fair!
