1500-`1600 Saturdays. April 5/12/19/26 HK$2600 including rental of handpan to take home to practice during the length of the workshop. If you rent the handpan for a number of consecutive months the handpan is yours to keep. HK$1650 class excluding handpan (bring your own preferably D minor scale) Handpans first hit the streets in 2007 and have rapidly grown in popularity worldwide. Their appeal lies in their ability to blend the sounds of a steel drum with more varied tonal texture and rhythm plus they are easy to carry. Making them a firm favourite of buskers, sound practitioners and musicians. Allow your creativity to flourish as you develop rhythms and learn basic techniques with Sasha. Class is suitable for all ages from rank novices never having touched a handpan to beginners. More advanced training available on request. About Sasha He is a percussionist specialising in handpan. He fell in love with percussive instruments around 15 years ago. African drum Djembe became his first passion. However, over time, he noticed that when he played percussive instruments, he was missing the melody... which is why when he first saw the Handpan, he immediately fell in love with it. He knew this wonderful instrument is exactly what he needed. Handpan is a new age instrument that combines rhythm, melody and harmony at the same time. The emotional and soft sound of this instrument fills the space and creates a harmonious atmosphere, which relaxes people. Playing it requires a creative mind. In my classes, I emphasise feeling on top of music theory. I adapt rigorous percussion technique for playing the handpan, which will be very useful in setting a base of creating any sound you want on this instrument. Sasha has lived in Hong Kong for 5 years. Handpan are his main instrument but he also is proficient in the Indian flute bansuri, didgeridoo and any kind of percussion. He has performed at Open space Jazz fest and with bands including CheeseTata and band Tarboosh. Music is how your feelings sound like!!! Rock Concerts
Three summers, more than 75 festival shows, and still hungry for more: Treptow, an alternative rock duo from Berlin, has become one of Germany’s top festival bands. With over 14 million streams and more than 300 concerts in 12 countries under their belt, the Berlin-based duo is gearing up for another jam-packed year. Without backing tracks or safety nets, the two-piece delivers the fury and raw energy of a full punk band. With poetry, intensity, and humor, the two friends take the stage with an unmatched drive. Philipp Taubert, singer and guitarist, was born and raised in East Berlin, right in the heart of the capital. Lukas Lindner, drummer and Philipp’s brother from another mother, grew up in a small town by Lake Constance. With Mozambican roots and a restless spirit, he was drawn to the road—just like Philipp. After finishing school, both felt the urge to break free, leave their familiar surroundings behind, and eventually meet each other on their travels. A few years of friendship later, in 2017, they launched their eponymous band in the Berlin district of Treptow and have been shaking up the German-speaking music scene ever since. MTWM Presents: Riot in School Live in Hong Kong Chengdu rock band Riot in School 返校日 brings their 2nd album Punk Rock Blasphemy (//褻瀆朋克搖滾) to Hong Kong, alongside their hard-hitting and infectious live energy. Details: Date | 2025 May 11 (Sun) Time | Doors 20:00 Venue | The Aftermath, LG/F, 52-54 Wyndham Street Tickets | $120 (soli), $250 (adv) via Eventbrite Special Guests | Bad Actors (HK), TBC Organised by @milkteawithoutmilk (A limited number of solidarity tickets are available for the unwaged, unhoused, unemployed, students, or those who need it.) === Did You Get Everything You Wanted From Your Youth? For Riot in School, it never seemed enough. This is a band living in perpetual anxiety, never satisfied, and full of regrets—but also full of relentless drive. In the summer of 2022, after the bittersweet release of their first album “Ceremony for Corruption”, Riot in School hit the road for their debut national tour. Thirteen shows in unfamiliar cities brought fleeting euphoria, but the joy dissolved as quickly as it came. They returned to routine, haunted by wasted time and craving something more: a bigger audience, a deeper connection, and a stronger voice in this cultural landscape. Amidst post-lockdown turmoil, they expanded from a trio to a quartet and poured two and a half years into creating their second album. It was a grueling process of self-discovery, internal conflict, and artistic obsession. The band gambled everything— their youth, money, and sanity—to craft something sharper, heavier, and more aggressive. Riot in School, as self-proclaimed leaders of China’s new wave of bands, are making the boldest move in their history: a Southeast Asian tour with an expanded five-piece lineup, guest bands from the region’s alternative scene, and their hardest-hitting setlist yet. This is our moment. Will you be there with me? For their Hong Kong stop, the band is joined by local alt-rock trio Bad Actors. === More About Riot in School’s Second Album: 《//褻瀆朋克搖滾》 《//褻瀆朋克搖滾》, translated to “//Punk Rock Blasphemy”, is Riot in School’s sophomore effort, blending the energy of post-hardcore with the melodicism of alternative rock, infused with hip-hop, trip-pop, and experimental electronics to create a sound uniquely their own. Two and a half years in the making, the album emerged from intense conflicts and artistic anxiety; all of the albums’ 11-tracks were self-financed and painstakingly recorded, reflecting the band’s unwavering commitment to leaving no regrets. Mixed by legendary producer Will Yip (known for his work with Title Fight, Turnstile, and more), the album is intricately crafted, divided into three dynamic sections filled with bold experimentation. The album cover and liner notes highlight left-behind children from Sichuan, for whom the band organised a benefit tour back in February of 2025. Information Source: MTWM | eventbrite

Football Sports & Fitness
The HKFC Standard Chartered Soccer Sevens is the world’s best seven-a-side football tournament where fans can see the stars of tomorrow and some of the legends of the game in one exciting event. Held at Hong Kong Football Club every year from 1999, except in 2003 and the Covid years, the event is divided into three tournaments. The Main Tournament is open age (players must be at least 16) and features youth and academy teams from some of the top clubs in Europe playing against more senior players from clubs and teams around the Asia-Pacific region. Aston Villa have won a record seven times (2002, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2016, 2023), while Blackburn Rovers (1999), Arsenal (2001), Newcastle (2012, 2018,2019), Leicester (2013, 2017) and Manchester City (2014) are the other English clubs to have lifted the Cup. Hong Kong clubs Kitchee (2011) and Instant Dict (2000), Japan’s Urawa Reds (2005, 2006), Scotland’s Celtic (2009) and Spain’s Atletico Madrid (2015) are the tournament’s only non-English champions. Current and former English Premier League aces Gary Cahill, Glen Johnson, Gabriel Agbonlahor, Jack Grealish, Sammy Ameobi, Anton Ferdinand, David Bentley and Marc Albrighton, plus Scotland internationals Shaun Maloney, Craig Beattie and Chris Burke, are just some of the young players who first made a name for themselves in this tournament. The Masters Tournament is for players aged 35 and over and features former stars from Europe’s top leagues competing in this entertaining yet hard-fought category. The roll call of Masters stars includes former internationals Peter Beardsley, John Barnes, Teddy Sheringham, Chris Waddle, Des Walker, Andy Cole, Matt Le Tissier, Gordon Cowans, Mark Walters, Michael Thomas (all England), Jurgen Klinsmann, Pierre Littbarski (both Germany), Jari Litmanen (Finland), Aron Winter (Netherlands), Didier Six (France) and Mustapha Hadji (Morocco). Lorenz All Stars have been the most successful Masters teams with four titles (2000, 2005, 2006, 2007) and three other finals appearances, while Ajax All Stars (2012, 2014), Rangers (2008, 2013) and Philips All Stars (2002, 2004) have each won twice. USCR won the title in 2015 after edging out Wallsend Boys Club, with Citi All Stars claiming the title for the first time in 2016. Dear Friends, I'd love to invite you to my Silent Disco Party to celebrate my milestone birthday! 🎂✨ I can’t think of a better way to kick off my 50s than with all of you, dancing the night away (well, technically from 6-9 PM)! It’s going to be so much fun and I promise you’ll love it! In lieu of gifts, it would be amazing if you would consider donating a minimum of HKD $100 to Cafe 8, part of The Nesbitt Centre. It's a wonderful cause as they provide jobs for adults with learning disabilities and I’m also proud to support them through my work at Don’t Throw Me. For more background information, please see http://nesbittcentre.org.hk. Thank you so much! I can’t wait to celebrate with you all! Erin Information Source: Erin | eventbrite

While classical, gospel, and contemporary popular music comprise the choir’s critically acclaimed repertoire, they are renowned for their emphasis on preserving spiritual heritage in their performances. The choir has performed with major symphony orchestras, including The Philadelphia Orchestra, Chicago Symphony, New York Philharmonic, and the National Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Eric Conway is the current Director of the Morgan State University Choir. Since 2004, he has led the choir through many notable performances, including a special performance at the service honoring Rosa Parks, the first woman to lie in honor at our nation’s Capital Rotunda. In 2015, at the request of First Lady Michelle Obama, the choir sang at the White House for a nationally televised concert in the East Room alongside Aretha Franklin, Shirley Caesar, and Tamela Mann. During the summer of 2018, the choir traveled to Slovakia, Germany, and Austria, where they sang in Vienna’s famed St. Mark's Cathedral. In the fall of the same year, the choir performed Leonard Bernstein’s Mass with the Peabody Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestra Marin Alsop. The choir has performed all over the world including in Greece, West Africa, Russia, South Africa, Canada, Colombia, China, Brazil, Argentina, Jamaica, Italy, Australia, Cuba, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Slovakia, Germany, England, Scotland, Wales, Peru, Ecuador, the Middle East, and the Galapagos Islands. Having shared their musical gifts on grand stages across the globe–with numerous dignitaries and celebrated performers– the Morgan State University Choir acts as a cultural ambassador for the City of Baltimore, the state of Maryland and the United States. For further information, see www.msuchoir.org. The Hong Kong Women’s Choir is a registered charitable organization, founded by a group of dedicated women, both expatriates and from Hong Kong, with a common love of singing. Within this organization, there are two sister groups: NOVA, the core group of singers performing to accompaniment and The Grace Notes who sing a cappella (unaccompanied). Rehearsals are held weekly and fundraising concerts for local charities are run each year in May and December. As a registered charitable organization, the objectives of the choir are to perform (in our own concerts, at private functions and public venues) to raise funds for Hong Kong charitable concerns while bringing music to the Hong Kong public. To date, we have helped organizations such as The Home of Loving Faithfulness, Against Child Abuse, St. Barnabas Society, St. John’s Counseling Service, Youth Outreach, the Hong Kong School for the Deaf, The Children’s Cancer Society and The Hong Kong Vocational Center, to name just a few. https://thkwc.org/ Information Source: Classical Movements | eventbrite
