Ben Holder (piano/violin), Sophie-Jayne Holder (vocals), Mike Green (double bass) A show featuring a charming blend of French chansons, Spanish canciones and German adaptations alongside some wonderful, easy-listening jazz & swing. Tuneful vocals, swinging piano & double bass, a smattering of violin and witty répartiee all come together for an evening with the Chanson Swing Trio. --- Ben Holder is the most acclaimed and exciting jazz violinist in the UK. His classical studies began at the age of six and were complemented by training at the Birmingham Conservatoire. An introduction to jazz came in his early teens – classic masters such as Benny Goodman, Oscar Peterson and Stephane Grappelli – and lead Ben to truly find his place as a musician. Ben possesses an innate sense of swing rhythm (something which often eludes classical players), breathtaking technical ability and true showmanship on stage. He offers flawless musicianship, heaps of energy and personality and a visible passion for his craft. Ben's various awards bear testimony to these abilities. Often playing across the UK, Europe and further afield, he is a first-call jazz violinist for many of the country's top venues, line-ups and studios. Information Source: Temperance | eventbrite

Chloe Josephine is a vibrant performer and song-writer from Portsmouth. Her soulful vocals, expressive tone and extensive range gives her the astounding ability to combine the energy of Janis Joplin, theatrics of Kate Bush and vocal acrobatics of Ariana Grande. Achieving high praise in Brave Rival with award nominated albums, national radio play and extensively touring, all whilst navigating new motherhood, her stamina has been undeniable. Chloe released her debut solo album ‘Colours’ in 2023 with a sell out launch show. Her next release is her ‘Rebloom’ EP, dropping in May 2025. With her versatility and likability, it is no wonder she is a finalist for Best Vocalist in the UK Blues Awards two years running. For this intimate show, Chloe will be joined by her husband Jon on guitar, alongwith the talented Jonny Moody who will be performing a supporting set of his own to open the night. Enjoy Chloe's soulful, heartfelt vocals and beautiful, story telling songs for a special night. Jonny Moody has guitar forward music, flirting with blues, soul and funk set in a time decades on from these influences. Nothing is off limits where it comes to production, subject matter or even guitar sounds. Live, this act won’t fail to get you listening, moving and hopefully thinking. Jonny the frontman after years of session work and corporate gigs is chomping at the bit to be unapologetically heard! You’re going to see honesty amplified. GABRIEL MORENO Moreno’s warm voice, embroidered by Ned Cartwright’s deft piano accompaniment, engrosses and soothes. Meditative one moment and despairing the next, these unhurried songs offer spiritual succour and solidarity, a balm for our trying times - Morning Star ★★★★★ “The songs tread a path between Folk, Latin and cabaret torch song. It’s an oddly effective mix which forms the perfect bed for Gabriel Moreno’s distinctive voice -a blend of Leonard Cohen, Peter Sarstedt, and dare I say it, Rex Harrison.” -(Trevor Raggart, RNR magazine) “An Offshoot of Leonard Cohen and Neil Diamond. I love it!” (Cerys Mathews, BBC6) Gabriel Moreno is Gibraltarian singer-songwriter, currently based in London. An irresistibly engaging performer, he combines a latin exuberance and passion with a rare lyrical calibre (he is also an accomplished poet, with 12 books published to date). Performing on nylon string guitar and often accompanied by The Quivering Poets, he creates a live experience that has been described as ”Taberna Folk” - at once both energetic and intimate, anarchic and absorbing. He has thrilled audiences across South America, the USA and Europe, including recent sets at UK festivals Wilderness, The Great British Folk Festival, Malmesbury Roots and Folk Festival, Costa Folk Festival, Gibraltar Music Festival, ELY folk Festival, Broadstairs Folk Festival, Rochester Sweeps Festival and Purbeck Valley Folk Festival, and has been championed by the likes of BBC 6 Music’s Cerys Matthews, with his sonorous baritone and poetical lyrics often seeing him compared to such luminary wordsmiths as Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave and Bill Callahan. Moreno’s unique artistic voice lies in the meeting and fusion of different identities. Born and raised in Gibraltar, a British territory bordering southern Spain and just 8 miles from Africa, he has since lived and performed across the world, absorbing influences from music, literature and art everywhere he went. Now considered one of the most compelling and distinctive artists in London's thriving folk and roots scene, he was previously the longtime curator and host of the legendary Lantern Society folk club, and in 2022 was awarded the title of Cultural Ambassador of Gibraltar. Moreno has written five albums since 2015 which have been received with acclaim by most Roots publications in the UK scene. 2025 will see the release of his sixth album, ‘Nights in the Belly of Bohemia,’ with an accompanying packed touring schedule across Europe, as well as a thirteenth book of poetry in that time entitled ‘Gibraltar.’ Information Source: Temperance | eventbrite

Our vegan kitchen will also be open before for lunch. The film will be shown on downstairs on our two basement large screens. It is an old building and there are stairs. Doors 2pm. Programme will start at 2:30pm and the film will last around 90mins. You are very welcome to stay to discuss the film and socialise with other members downstairs afterwards. Comfortable seating but limited capacity. £10 plus booking fee. It normally sells out very quickly, so do book early. We are planning to hold these once a month on the third Thursday. Michelangelo - Love & Death Directed by David Bickerstaff – Produced by Phil Grabsky The spectacular sculptures and paintings of Michelangelo seem so familiar to us, but what do we really know about this Renaissance giant? Michelangelo’s genius is evident in everything he touched. Beautiful and diverse works such as the towering statue of David, the moving Pietà in the Papal Basilica of St. Peter and his tour-de-force, the Sistine Chapel ceiling, still leave us breathless today. Spanning his 88 years, Michelangelo - Love and Death takes a cinematic journey through the print and drawing rooms of Europe through the great chapels and museums of Florence, Rome and the Vatican to seek out a deeper understanding of this legendary figure’s tempestuous life, his relationship with his contemporaries and his incredible legacy. Through expert commentary, stunning visuals and Michelangelo’s own words, this film takes a fresh look at a master artist whose life and genius are celebrated in every mark he made. Returning to cinemas in 2025 to celebrate this iconic artist’s 550th birthday. Sculptor, painter, architect, poet, genius - discover why Michelangelo is without a doubt one of the greatest artists of all time. Information Source: Temperance | eventbrite
