Join us for this year’s Take Back the Night event in Carleton Place! We’re hosting a condensed version of the evening with a vigil, speeches, and march. We’ll meet at 5:00 PM in the park behind Carleton Place Town Hall and march down Bridge Street to Lake Avenue, with bus pick up at the Farmer's Market. A free bus will be available for those who want to continue to Parliament Hill . If you’d like to join just for the bus portion, meet at the Carleton Place Farmers’ Market at 6:00 PM — the bus will depart no later than 6:15 PM. This year, we want a big turnout: the march and trip to Ottawa are a chance to show solidarity with women and girls. With rising rates of intimate partner violence, recent high-profile events like the Hockey Canada trial, global challenges to women’s rights, and proposed cuts to funding for women’s services across Canada, women are in a precarious position.
