The Swedbank Vilnius Marathon is an annualcity marathon, held in Vilnius, Lithuania. First introduced in 2001 as 10k race it evolved to a classic marathon in 2004. The half marathon was introduced in 2006. The Swedbank Vilnius Marathon is AIMS certified since 2007. It is one of the fastest growing marathons in the Baltics and the biggest running festival in Lithuania. It doubled the number of participants in 2012 and 2013 from over 5000 runners to 10 000 runners. In 2019 the marathon counted over 11 000 participants. Vilnius city itself is a centre of attraction to the runners from all over the world - the old town of the city is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The city preserved an impressive complex of Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and classical buildings as well as its medieval layout and natural setting. The course will start and finish at the Cathedral Square in the very heart of Vilnius. While running, the participants will admire the famous old-town as well as green parks and the riverbank of Neris. Every three years, the CAC hosts the Baltic Triennial, one of the most ambitious contemporary art events in the Baltics. It is curated by different curators each time, who present their vision and showcase artists from different parts of the world. The Baltic Triennial is representative of its history (which dates back to 1979) and its experimental spirit. The format of the exhibition is constantly changing, and while it is usually held at the CAC, it is also often held in other venues. The Baltic Triennial was first held in Vilnius in 1979 as a showcase for young Baltic artists working in a non-conformist spirit. Since then, it has grown into a major international exhibition in Northern Europe. The upcoming edition is the first international exhibition to be held at the Centre for Contemporary Art (CAC) since it reopened after a 3-year renovation. The exhibition, Same Day 15th Baltic Triennial, takes its title from a poem of the same name written by the Greek poet Emerson in New York City in 1984. The poem is part of Songs Without Music, a typed and previously unpublished manuscript of poems and lyrics discovered in the archives of Greek photographer George Tourkovasilis.
