From January 30th to February 22nd, 2026, the Copenhagen Light Festival will be held in Copenhagen's city center and harbor area. Most of the artworks are outdoors, scattered along canals, bridges, and quiet alleyways. If you've never strolled through Copenhagen at night, now is the time. Lights reflect on the water, bicycles whiz by, and a tranquil yet exciting atmosphere fills the air. Put on warm clothes, grab a hot drink, and start your stroll; you'll see the city from a whole new perspective. The Copenhagen Light Festival brings together artists and designers from around the world to adorn the city with light art: these installations twinkle and shimmer, some even moving or interacting with pedestrians. You'll see illuminated sculptures along the water's edge, colorful projections on ancient buildings, and installations you can actually interact with. Each piece tells its own story; some are witty and humorous, some poetic, and some breathtakingly beautiful.

CPH:DOX, the Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival, is one of the world's largest documentary film festivals. It discovers the work of leading international talent and emerging artists, promising to present the best experimental films and videos in the film and visual arts. Staying true to its tradition, the program will screen a large number of documentaries, showcasing the world we live in from scientific, artistic, critical power, human nature, youth, experience, unwavering, witty, and utterly absurd perspectives. CPH:DOX will be held from March 11th to 22nd, 2026.

On 8 May, the Glyptotek opens a new exhibition centred on Edgar Degas’ enigmatic painting Dancers Practising in the Foyer and the research that has recently led to a proposed revised dating of the work. Degas’ Obsession delves into this single painting, exploring its history and its significance in understanding Degas’ artistic practice. Ballet scenes were a central theme in Edgar Degas’ career, yet Dancers Practising in the Foyer has long been difficult to place in relation to his other ballet paintings. The painting is immediately puzzling—seemingly not finished, with very unevenly applied paint layers, drastically different tones and a dominant shadow from a partially overpainted figure. These unexplained visual mysteries sparked what became an an extensive research project led by art historian Dr. Line Clausen Pedersen, in a collaboration between the Glyptotek and the Getty in Los Angeles.

Her work explores the relationship of industrial practices and hand-made objects as a method of critical inquiry into the experience of being and belonging amid global precarity.Whether sculptures of drinking fountains in the shape of water vessels, enlarged amulets combining ancient and modern materials, or films witnessing the ecological consequences of extractive industries in the Global South, her work pushes against colonial narratives and explores how materials and forms transmute across time and space.
