The Sherwood Park Fish and Game Association (SPFGA) is excited to announce the launch of their new series of Naturalist sessions, starting with the SPFGA Naturalist Series - Owls, Owlers, and Owling in Alberta. These sessions aim to connect participants with nature and increase their appreciation of Alberta's natural heritage. The first session will feature Gordon Court, Provincial Wildlife Status Biologist with Alberta Environment and Protected Areas, who will share his extensive knowledge about owls in Alberta.
During the session, participants will have the opportunity to learn about all the owl species in Alberta, as well as the conservation concerns that affect some of these species. Gordon Court will also introduce the passionate group of individuals known as Owlers, who engage in activities such as listening for owls, photographing them, and even building and installing owl nest boxes. In fact, following the presentation, participants will have a hands-on experience assembling Northern Saw-whet Owl nest boxes, which will be installed at the Ketchamoot Creek Recreation Property.
The SPFGA Naturalist Series - Owls, Owlers, and Owling in Alberta is open to individuals aged 15 and older. If a youth is accompanied by an adult, there is no minimum age requirement. The event will take place at the Ketchamoot Creek Property in Sherwood Park.
Refreshments will be provided, and the event will proceed unless there are safety concerns due to bad weather. Registration fees will be refunded in the event of a cancellation, but individual refunds will not be provided otherwise.
Don't miss this opportunity to learn from Gordon Court, a renowned expert on owls and other wildlife species. The SPFGA Naturalist Series - Owls, Owlers, and Owling in Alberta promises to be an educational and enriching experience for all nature enthusiasts.
