Newport Theater Camp: Clown Playground (Sundays 12pm-2pm) | The Newport Theater
Newport Theater Camp presents Clown Playground, a unique opportunity to learn clowning and improv technique with the internationally renowned Hot Clown Company. This camp, held every Sunday from 12pm-2pm starting on January 14th, offers a series of classes and exercises led by expert instructor Evan Richter. The Clown Playground is limited to a maximum of 15 participants, ensuring a personalized and immersive experience.
During these sessions, participants will explore the art of clownprov, a playful and interactive form of improvisation. Through a variety of exercises and games, attendees will be encouraged to embrace their inner clown, taking risks and breaking the rules in a safe and supportive environment. The aim is to help participants commit to ideas without judgment, engage with the audience on a deeper level, and find joy and pleasure in the act of play.
In addition to the regular sessions, there will be a Student Showcase on Sunday, March 17th, where participants will have the opportunity to perform in front of an audience. Please note that prior clown experience is required to join the Clown Playground.
