Hosted at cSpace Marda Loop's Studio Theatre, " Through the Veil " is an intimate gathering designed for those drawn to the unexplained. In a quiet, low-light setting, guests are invited to explore real-life encounters with the unknown... ghostly sightings, eerie sensations, unexplainable moments, and the lingering presence of something beyond. This is not a performance, but a space for curious, respectful conversation . Whether you're a believer, a skeptic, or simply seeking answers, Through the Veil invites you to listen, reflect, and, if selected in advance, share your own story. Stage guests will be preselected by October 1st. To be considered, submit your experience through our website, email, or social media. Led by hosts with deep personal experience in the paranormal, each session centers around meaningful dialogue, emotional truth, and an openness to the mysteries that defy easy explanation. This is for those who take the subject seriously... not as spectacle, but as something deeply human. NOTE: No heckling or disruptive behavior will be tolerated. This is a space for open minds, quiet curiosity, and deep respect. Information Source: Ghostbound Guides | eventbrite

Through the Veil - A Paranormal Conversation Ghostbound Guides invites you to an intimate conversation at cSPACE Marda Loop, hosted by two lifelong friends who have experienced the paranormal firsthand. Through honest dialogue, they explore moments of fear, loss, and the unexplainable - sharing stories that reveal what it’s like to confront the unknown when life feels most fragile. We’re currently collecting personal stories through our social media channels, and selected encounters will be shared on stage during the event. If you’ve experienced something you can’t explain (and you’re open to telling your story) we’re accepting submissions and screening participants until October 1st. We’re also inviting you to submit your questions about the paranormal in advance. The final portion of the evening will feature a curated Q&A, where we’ll respond to a selection of these questions with care and consideration. This is just the beginning. Ghostbound Guides is taking the pulse on Calgary’s appetite for the unexplained. More immersive experiences are coming in 2026. Concerts
The Deep Dark Woods October 17th, 2025 Festival Hall Doors: 7:00 pm; Show: 8:00 pm All Ages / Licensed Advance tickets: $30 + fees and taxes One might be tempted to think of the Deep Dark Woods as a band steeped in capital-T tradition, and that may be true, but now nearly two decades into their life as one of Canada’s finest folk-roots ensembles, that tradition is one of their own invention. The voice of founding member Ryan Boldt sits at the forefront of the band, and it doesn’t take long to reveal that he is a master of subtlety and shading, working in the lineage of iconic singers like Bob Dylan, Bert Jansch, Rick Danko, and Jason Molina. Boldt, a relentless lifelong listener of music, says “It’s all I do. When I’m not playing music, I’m listening to it, trying to find songs that make me feel an aching pain in my chest.” Accordingly, his singing is full of highly emotive nuance and an elegant, relaxed precision that makes it seem downright effortless, a perfect vehicle for the band’s particular brand of updated folk music. Fellow travellers like keyboard whiz Geoff Hilhorst, veteran drummer Mike Silverman, and Evan Cheadle round out the Deep Dark Woods unit, and they are often assisted by like-minded collaborators such as singer-songwriter Ellen Froese, Erik Nielsen, Leon Power, and the acclaimed duo Kacy & Clayton. This crew creates a powerful combination and has amassed a pile of celebrated albums, EPs, and a host of nominations from music awards outfits from across the country. Together they recall classic units like The Band, mid-period Wilco, and American Beauty-era Grateful Dead, but also legendary late ’60s UK groups like Fairport Convention, Pentangle, and Steeleye Span. Originally from Saskatchewan and now based in Southern Ontario, The Deep Dark Woods take up a deep tradition of forlorn storytelling, drawing lines from Celtic folksongs to country blues, John Fahey to Shirley Collins. Lush and devastating, Boldt’s gothic surrealism is stark in detail and full of emotion, a murder balladeer for our time. This is a seated event. Seats are allocated on a first come, first served basis. For more information, visit www.calgaryfolkfest.com . Information Source: Calgary Folk Music Festival | eventbrite

Calgary
Concerts
October 19th, 2025 Palace Theatre Doors: 7:00 pm; Show: 8:00 pm The Tallest Man on Earth Swedish singer-songwriter troubadour Kristian Matsson, aka The Tallest Man on Earth, captivates audiences using every inch of his long guitar cord to roam the stage: darting around, crouching, stretching, hip-twitching, perching briefly and jittering away... with just his raw, grainy voice and various string instruments, including the acoustic guitar, banjo and even the banjo. In 2020, Matsson left New York City and returned to his farm in Sweden where he drowned out his thoughts by manically growing vegetables in his garden. Near the end of 2021, as he began to tour again, inspiration returned. The new collection of songs, became Henry St, an album that sees Matsson exploring his own stubborn optimism and “how to be a person in this world.” The Still Tide Anna Morsett has never been in one place for too long. Whether traveling in her mind or in actual transit, she searches for the steadiness that her band name implies: The Still Tide. While Morsett’s project has gone through several iterations, hometowns and releases, the constant has always been her honest, intentional and luminous brand of indie rock. Influenced as much by growing up in the Pacific Northwest as by her experiences traveling the globe as a guitar tech for artists such as Feist, Gregory Alan Isakov and Alvvays. The Still Tide is Anna Morsett’s true and heartfelt landing place for her confessional lyrics and intricate guitar work. Information Source: Calgary Folk Music Festival | eventbrite

We use both indoor classrooms and outdoor learning areas throughout our facility. How is the camp organized? Camp size is limited to 12 children and is led by a trained education facilitator and/or camp leader and volunteer assistants. Children in grades 1-6 will all be placed in the same group. All children will need to bring a lunch as well as 2 light snacks and a bottle of water to camp. Children will be provided with the opportunity to eat a small snack or enjoy a drink at both mid-morning and mid-afternoon. If your child’s medical condition requires them to eat or drink at certain times please alert our camp staff prior to your child’s camp day. The Calgary Humane Society is NOT a peanut-free facility however we do request that parents avoid packing peanut products for the safety of all of our campers. Will my child spend most of the day working directly with animals? Everything we do at camp is aimed at teaching children about animal care, handling, and welfare. We strive to give our campers an opportunity to interact with several animals each day. However, we are an open-admissions animal shelter which cares for all animals including some that may be sick, injured, or have behavioural issues. Our ability to have kids interact with animals relies entirely on the types of animals who are in residence during the camp. Our two top priorities are to provide our campers with a safe experience and to prevent our resident animals from any undue stress. Some animals simply cannot handle the attention of a large group of children, and we endeavor to teach the children to respect the needs of each individual animal. That being said, when a gentle bunny, or a kid-loving dog, or playful bunch of kittens comes through the shelter, the camp kids are often given the opportunity to interact with them. Please note: Activities are age specific. Animal interaction is dependent upon animal health on a day-to-day basis. We cannot guarantee specified types or amount of animal visits. We also do not garantee any petting, but will aim to choose animal visitors who are open to pets.
