The Walk!Bike!Fun! In Person Training 2023 - Saint Paul is an essential component of BikeMN's educator training program. This training will provide participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively teach BikeMN's pedestrian and bicycle safety curriculum. By attending this in-person, on-bike training, educators will have the opportunity to gain familiarity with various bike safety lessons and activities. Additionally, participants will increase their confidence and comfort when riding with traffic, while also understanding the support that BikeMN can offer when teaching children how to ride bikes. To ensure a comprehensive training experience, it is important to complete Part One, which is an online training module. This module utilizes content from a previous version of the Walk!Bike!Fun! curriculum. Although some aspects, such as page numbers, may be outdated, the content remains relevant. If you require a current digital version of the curriculum, please request it here. During Part Two of the training, all participants will receive a hard copy of the updated curriculum. Participants are welcome to bring their own bikes, although it is not required. It is recommended to come prepared with a helmet and water bottle. Dress comfortably for biking and consider the weather conditions. Lunch will be provided during the training session. Upon completion of both training parts, educators will receive 8 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for their active participation. Join CPAWS Manitoba for an afternoon group hike at the beautiful St Adolphe Friendship Trail. This guided hike will take place on Saturday, December 16, at 1:30 PM and offers the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in nature and explore Manitoba's parks. Located just a short drive from Winnipeg, this 2.7km out-and-back trail is easily accessible and features flat and easy terrain, making it suitable for all fitness levels. The trail starts south of the Pierre Delorme Bridge and winds through a bird sanctuary, providing birdwatchers with the chance to spot birds during their fall migration. In collaboration with Sports en français, an organization dedicated to promoting physical activity in the Francophone community, the 11:00 AM hike will be bilingual. While French language skills are not required, both Francophones and Francophiles are encouraged to join. English speakers can also use this opportunity to practice their French language skills. The St Adolphe Friendship Trail was created by a local couple, Henriette and Richard Collette, who initiated its development while cleaning the shore of the river during the first years of the pandemic. The trail, adorned with bird feeders, windchimes, and other unique decorations, offers plenty of spots to rest and enjoy the scenic view. To reach the trailhead, simply type 'St Adolphe Friendship Trail' into your GPS or smartphone. Alternatively, from Winnipeg, head south on Highway 75 and turn east onto Provincial Road Hwy 210. Continue until you reach the junction of 75 and Main Street, then head south onto Main Street. Finally, turn west onto St Paul Street, where you'll find the trailhead at the end of the street. As you prepare for the hike, remember to bring at least two bottles of water, snacks to keep your energy up, hand sanitizer, any necessary medication, a safety whistle, pocket flashlight, and a basic first-aid kit. CPAWS Manitoba's group hikes are a fantastic opportunity to connect with nature and meet like-minded individuals. Our knowledgeable staff will guide you along the trail, offering insights about the surrounding environment. While not formal park interpreters, we're always happy to answer your questions.
