1am. An Iron Age hillfort in North Dorset. Away from dysfunctional families and small-town gossip, Viv and Daisy can be entirely themselves. With so much beyond their control, Fort is their stomping ground. Their escape. Until the ghost turns up. Best friends for as long as they can remember, their bond has survived school bullies, witchcraft, jealousy and vengeful cows. But at the end of a summer when everything is changing, can it survive the ghost? Originally drafted on a Royal Court Introductory Group, Fort was longlisted for the Bruntwood Prize 2022 and shortlisted (in an earlier draft) for the Theatre 503 International Playwriting Award. Most recently, it was shortlisted for the Masterclass Pitch Your Play Award, and pitched to industry professionals at The Other Palace theatre. Dorsetborn are a queer and neurodivergent-led theatre company creating new work across Dorset and the South West. Their debut show, ‘Georgia and the Iceberg’, toured in 2023. Other projects include ‘PRIDE’, commissioned by the National Trust for Kingston Lacy, and ‘A Shipwreck Story’. They are an Associate Company of National Youth Theatre. May 22nd 17:30 - May 23rd 09:00 In this relaxed but fun-packed session you will arrive at 5.30PM and we will begin with setting up your sleeping area’s before having a go at some archery and craft activities. After this we will break for dinner ( bring your own picnic !) before playing some historical games. As it gets dark, we’ll light a fire in the Longhall and settle down for historical tales with not-so historical s’mores around the fire pit before bed. In the morning a breakfast of toast or cereal will be available before leaving the site by 9AM . Adults go free (Although due to limited space we ask where possible only one adult accompanies.) Age range 7+ What to bring: Overnight kit (toothbrush, toothpaste etc), sleeping bag, pillow, sleeping mat if desired (Sheepskins will be provided) picnic and picnic blanket. In this relaxed but fun-packed session you will arrive Friday 1st August at 2 .30PM and we will begin with stowing sleeping bags and getting familiar with your home for the night, the Viking Longhouse. After this we will take part in a mixture of craft activities and preparation for the evening meal. We ask that people bring their own picnic dinner , but we will be supplementing it with bread made with herbs and flour ground on our quern stones, butter and cheese and perhaps a few other little bits as well. Once dinner is finished we will set up some historical games for people to play as well the chance for a few rounds on our archery range. As the night draws in, we’ll stoke the fire, set up our sleeping areas and settle down for historical tales (with not-so historical s’mores!) before bed. In the morning a breakfast of toast or cereal will be available before leaving the site by (around about) 9AM. Adults go free (although due to limited space we ask where possible only one adult accompanies ) so please only purchase tickets for children .
