Exercise
Tai Chi is a gentle, low-impact exercise that blends martial arts with meditation. Originating from ancient China, it has evolved to focus on health and rehabilitation. Often called meditation in motion, Tai Chi involves gentle movements, postures, controlled breathing and a calm state of mind. Research suggests Tai Chi may help with menopausal symptoms such as bone loss, mood swings and sleep issues. Additional benefits include stimulating the central nervous system, lowering blood pressure, reducing stress and gently toning muscles. Tai Chi is also known to improve balance, manage pain, relieve depression and enhance brain function. Interested? Our free Tai Chi sessions are open to members of our Menopause Awareness Community (MAC) group, as well as women and girls aged 13 and over who live, work, or study in Redbridge.
