Great things take time, and that certainly applies to this dazzling new showcase at the National Gallery of Australia (NGA). Chinese-Australian artist Lindy Lee was commissioned to celebrate the NGA's 40th anniversary back in 2022, and now, after 60,000 hours of work, ‘Ouroboros' has finally been unveiled after three years of waiting. The piece is worth a staggering AU$14 million. Alongside the sculpture, the NGA is hosting a self-titled exhibition all about Lee's sparkling career, which spans four decades.

The Canberra Balloon Festival is Australia's oldest hot air balloon festival, celebrating the spectacular sight of hot air balloons soaring through the sky. It is the only hot air balloon festival in the world to fly over a country's capital. From March 14th to 22nd, 2026, this nine-day event will light up the sky with colorful hot air balloons, creating a breathtaking spectacle that attracts families, photographers, and tourists. This year, the festival will be held at Patrick White Lawn in Parks, where participants can experience the process of preparing for launch up close.
