Volunteers are being sought for the 10th Annual Slash & Berm Banked Slalom competition, taking place at Killington Resort in Killington, VT. The event, organized by Killington Resort, Darkside Snowboards, and Burton, will be held from March 1st to March 3rd, 2024. Snowboarders from all over will gather at Killington's The Stash terrain park to showcase their skills on the natural terrain and creative elements of the mountain. This year, the event is proud to donate all proceeds to the Friends of Rutland Skatepark, a non-profit organization dedicated to building a concrete skatepark in Rutland, VT. Volunteers are needed to support the event in three key areas. The first area is Registration, where volunteers will greet and check in participants, ensure correct completion of registration forms, collect signed waiver forms, distribute competition bibs and shirts, and provide information to competitors. Gate Checkers, the second area, will be responsible for reporting any riders who fall or go off course. Volunteers in this role will be equipped with a radio and assigned a designated gate, requiring them to ski or snowboard on intermediate or advanced terrain. Finally, Runners will assist in setting up, taking down, and transporting various equipment throughout the Stash and Lil' Stash terrain parks. This role will require outdoor work, so volunteers should dress appropriately and bring necessary ski/snowboard equipment and additional layers for warmth. All volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and are required to fill out the Express Assumption of Risk form in advance. Snowboarders from all around will gather at The Stash terrain park in Killington to experience the natural terrain and creative elements the mountain has to offer. The action kicks off on Friday with a Shop Team Invite-Only banked slalom event, where local shops will compete for the Slash & Berm Banked Slalom title. On Saturday, the event is open to all snowboarders and will be individually timed. This year, Groms (snowboarders ages 13 & under) can also participate and showcase their skills in The Stash. Additionally, a Switch Run will replace the Just for Fun run on Saturday, open to the first 50 participants to sign up. Killington’s Loaded Turkey Rail Jam is back to kick off a great season of park competitions in our Killington Parks. We’re serving up Thanksgiving dinner on the podium with a frozen turkey going out to first place and all the fixings going to second & third place. This year's event venue & awards locations are currently TBD. We are currently looking for volunteers to help with this event. Positions will be needed for registration as well as on-snow support. Volunteers will receive 1 lift ticket voucher to return to Killington/Pico for a day of skiing/riding or mountain biking in return for each shift worked. Lift tickets earned are valid 1 year from the date of issue. Lunch will also be provided for your shift. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. Please remember to wear proper attire if you plan on working outside!
