Uncle Strut: In a short amount of time, Vancouver-based indie band Uncle Strut have turned their dive bar beginnings into sellout headlining shows at legendary venues like their hometown’s Hollywood Theatre, and have shared stages with acclaimed acts such as the Goo Goo Dolls, Baby Jake, and George Thorogood. Over the last four years, singer/guitarist Tyson McNamara, bassist Simon Tejani, and drummer Quincy Flowers have honed their signature blend of surf-infused indie pop, evoking the hazy sun-soaked nostalgia of the '70s. With the recent addition of guitarist Jasper Matthias, the band is kicking off 2025 with the anticipated announcement of their debut album, and an upcoming tour acrossCanada. Home At Last, Uncle Strut’s first full-length album, seamlessly combines the easygoing charm of Australian surf rock with a deep respect for rock and pop traditions. The album’s playful yet sincere energy draws comparisons to Spacey Jane and Ocean Alley, whilst channeling the spirit of late '60s psychedelia. Influences from The Doors’ mystical allure and The Beach Boys’ kaleidoscopic vision are ever-present, making Home At Last a captivating listen. Uncle Strut will release Home At Last on May 16th, and in celebration will embark on a tour across British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec in support of their first single, Waiting For You.
