OnBoard Development Day - Coach Development | Strangford Lough Yacht Club
Sports & Fitness
The RYANI OnBoard Development Day is an essential event for coaches and volunteers who will be supporting onboard activity within their club. This initiative is part of the Royal Yachting Association's grassroots program, known as OnBoard, which operates in over 280 clubs and sailing centers across the UK. OnBoard focuses on junior sailing and windsurfing, providing a structured and progressive program that ensures safe, fun, and equal access to these activities for individuals aged 8-18.
RYANI is actively encouraging more centers, like Bright Night Sailing, to become part of the OnBoard community. To learn more, join us at our OnBoard Development Day, where we will have the privilege of hosting Hannah Cockle from RYA. Hannah will share her expertise on all aspects of OnBoard, from the Sessions Cards that facilitate OB Activity on the water to the delivery of engaging sessions. These session cards are invaluable resources for both new and experienced instructors, offering a wealth of ideas to motivate and improve the skills of young sailors.
Moreover, we have arranged for a Coach to provide guidance on making racing appealing to OB sailors during on-water sessions. This event is open to Instructors of all levels who wish to refresh their knowledge, learn how to utilize the OnBoard resources effectively, and gain confidence in delivering Junior and Youth training sessions. Throughout the day, participants will have the opportunity to sail, instruct, and practice alongside fellow instructors with the support of our dedicated OnBoard team.
