The room layout is beautiful and the front desk welcomes you warmly. The service staff took the initiative to deliver the luggage to the room. The hotel is located next to the Orange River and has beautiful views from the window. It is the first choice in Upington. Thanks Protea Hotel by Marriott for a great trip.

This place is ideally located as the first location offering (there's plenty in the area to choose from) when you enter Upington along the N14. So, after a long drive to the Northern Cape from Rustenburg, its location was ideal for us as a midway stop to where we had planned to visit. We chose this place for its value for money package and how it easily accommodated our little one. For the price, we also had breakfast included. We opted for an upgrade of our room, to one with both a shower and bathtub and we were gladly granted that request. A bathtub makes bath time easier with a little one. The room we were given was upstairs (number 3) and had an extra mattress prepared for us. The room was so spacious that our little one could easily play around with his scooter inside. We're glad we had enough space in the car to pack his favorite mobile toy for him to enjoy here! The room had pretty much everything you can think of in it for functionality purposes - aircon, comfy bed, bar fridge, extra blanket, safe, study table and chair, couch, complimentary water, DStv, clean and fresh towels. The TV is cleverly positioned away from the study area to give privacy to those using the table and chair for reading or writing purposes. The DSTV also had many channels available, which meant that our little one could watch any cartoon channel he wanted to, all day long. The room also had a tea and coffee station, with snacks and drinks, the snacks and drinks were available for purchase. The room had a wooden floor and an outside balcony area. The area is also safe with gated access and limited covered parking. The atmosphere around the place is one that is peaceful, in touch with nature and calming. There's lush green grass and plants around with a massive pool and beautiful ponds all around with fish to see. There are two friendly ducks, which our son loved to see and greet each time he saw them and there are some springboks at a distance to see as well when you walk around the area to take everything in. The animals were a special touch that the place offered and our son really enjoyed that element to the place. There was unfortunately no jungle gym (play area) as I had expected from the online images I have seen. The place did not also offer dinner/lunch but that was highlighted at check in. The room also did not have a microwave to warm up the takeaway food but was not a deal breaker. The place is located close to the Kalahari Mall and an Engen garage for filling up. Browns Manor was an ideal accommodation spot for us as we had planned to visit the Augrabies Falls, which is located 1 hour and 30 minutes drive away from the National Park. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it.

I needed a place to overnight while travelling from Cape Town to Kgalagadi. I'm super glad I chose River Place Manor in Upington. The town had plenty of facilities to stock up with and the accommodation itself was lovely right next to the river with comfy loungers and a beautiful garden surrounded by pecan trees and vines. I stayed here late September so had no issues with mosquitos. My 9 and 11 year old kids enjoyed the pool overlooking the river. Also the breakfast was yummy - worth it to include in your booking. I particularly enjoyed their sausage. I somehow forgot my jacket there and the staff were very helpful and communicated promptly via WhatsApp. Lovely place, just book it.

Sunriver Kalahari Lodge is situated on the banks of the Orange River in Upington, in the heart of the Green Kalahari. It features 2 swimming pools and a river deck. We do have three different buildings, so we have different types of rooms. In total we have 25 rooms which can accommodate 60 guests at one night. All our rooms have a on-suite bathroom with showers, some of them have a shower and a bath. The most of our rooms have river facing and all the rooms can use our braai facilities. The air-conditioned rooms are decorated in earthy tones. Each room have tea- and coffee making facilities and also bathroom amenities. Each room comes equipped with a flat-screen satellite TV and DSTV. Wi-Fi connection is available in all rooms. Two of our rooms have baby cots. Attractions in the area include the Augrabies Waterfalls, which can be found within 120 km from the lodge. The Upington Airport is a 10-minute drive away. Meals at Sunriver Kalahari Lodge are served in the dining room. We do serve Dinner on requests in advance. We do lunch packs on requests in advance. I really enjoyed my stay at Desert Palace. There is so much to do there. The staff are really friendly and the rooms are well equipped and comfortable. The only issue I had was that I was given a packed lunch containing meat when I asked for a veggie meal. But apart from that, everything was perfect!

Amazing stay ..everything exceeded our expectations..the views were out of this world..and if you a fisherman or fishing lover the fishing was amazing!!will definitely be back
