Yellowstone Country Inn

What a mistake! For $200/night, I'm astonished at the poor quality of this motel. It is the textbook definition of TIRED and SHABBY. I've stayed in hundreds of motels over the years for both business and pleasure and this rates in the bottom 5%. The bed has a terrible mattress. It's like something our of the Spanish Inquisition. The room is dark. The only lighting is two bedside lamps. No overhead light. No light on the very small desk. I'm writing this from a very dark corner of the room. There is no bedside table. The little furniture that is there looks like they bought it at a roadside yard sale. I had to use my suitcase standing up for a table to eat my Subway sub for dinner. The bathroom is small, cramped and looks like your drunk uncle put it together, complete with sloppy caulking. The front desk person isn't exactly focused on customer service. When I told him that the internet connection in my room isn't working (10+ minutes trying to load a simple web page), his response (when he looked up from his Nintendo Switch) was that ”it's working here”. Even after I badgered him into resetting the router, the internet service is barely faster than dial-up. The DirectV didn't work. A maintenance person had to reset the entire system. Even then, most of the channels don't work..It's stuck on ”Searching...”. On the third visit, they explained that they don't buy many channels and I have to keep searching for something that works. No, they don't have a list of available channels. FOR $200/NIGHT. No bedside nightstand. No clock. No in-room coffee. No fridge. No microwave. No clothes hangars. No vanity in the bathroom, so no place to put down a shaving kit, toothbrush or anything else. (See the photo). That sink is straight out of 1965. We're here for 2 rooms, 3 nights. On the bright side, the manager agreed to refund us for the next two nights. I found another motel 45 miles away. A lot of extra driving, but it will be worth it to get out of this dump. *Side note. The internet service is so bad here that I had to use my iPhone as a hotspot to make new reservations!

It belongs to the type of motel, with a total of two floors. It is relatively large and has more rooms. It is easy to check in and check out. Free parking. The room is more compact, mainly because there is no wardrobe, there is a shelf next to the room where you can wash a few clothes. Two beds of about 1.5, can accommodate 4 people. The room I lived in was on the second floor without an elevator. My suitcase is small, so there is no inconvenience. Breakfast is simple, bread, milk, coffee, tea. Fried cheese chicken dan, hot and salty oat paste. You can eat without being picky. The location is good, there is a Chinese restaurant next to it: Honglian. There is also a medium-sized supermarket. It is about 10 minutes walk from the west entrance of Yellowstone Park.

Strayed here for 5 nights in total in Feb 23 and was lucky enough to have room 7 which has a small kitchen attached. Everything needed was available and if it wasn't, the lovely owner ,Janice, did her very best to make it so. Janice is like's everyone's mother. Take your problems to her and she'll help to try and solve them The cabin was lovely and warm and the bed as comfortable as you could wish for. The bathrooms are well appointed and having a 'phone in the room was also especially useful as a 'foreign' tourist who wished to receive incoming calls without incurring a huge cost if you were using your mobile. From early morning to late evening, Thank you for a lovely stay - and a high five to your lovely golden Labrador dog, who also greeted me with gusto and enthusiasm every evening when I returned.

We were expecting the rooms to be pretty basic, but they were much nicer than we expected. Modern, clean and comfortable, with a microwave, kettle and mini fridge. It is about a 20-25 min drive to West Yellowstone and the park entrance. But we realize that accommodation gets booked up quickly, so although it ends up being a lot of driving, we weren't complaining. There's a small store with basic food and stuff at the cabins, but if you want anything more, you need to buy it in town.
White Buffalo Hotel

We stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel common areas were immaculate and someone was always cleaning. The rooms in the courtyard area were very big and had a lot of space for us to open 3 suitcases. The carpet should be pulled up and a floor should be laid down. This would help make the room look more modern and clean. There used to be a pool and a hot tub, but theybhave been replaced with a sitting area and outdoor fitness equipment. I appreciate the layout of this hotel as it gave me old school vibes (I've stayed in hotels with the courtyard layout in Hawaii and Key West). All in all it was a decent stay and the room served its purpose. The breakfast was outstanding it was a hot breakfast buffet served by very quick-moving and efficient ladies. The weird thing was that you only get two breakfasts included with your room. We were a family of four so I had to pay $10 per person for the other two meals. There are a few other things that would improve the rating of this hotel they don't provide a soap dish for your soap, there is no place to fill up your water bottles with cold water (my daughter was told to use the faucet in our room), they do not provide any conditioner for your hair, there was no refrigerator or microwave in the room (we literally filled up the garbage pail with ice to submerge our drinks), the workers are not very friendly and most don't speak English, there are signs all over the place telling you what NOT to do (don't fill up your coolers with ice, don't touch the coffee machine). I understand that certain things need to be communicated but the tone of the notes could have been more kind. This was a decent hotel and the price was very fair considering that most hotels in the area all seemed to be the same motel style. If you stay here l, just be sure to bring conditioner and ask for a room withba fridge.
Days Inn by Wyndham West Yellowstone

We stayed at the Days Inn in West Yellowstone while visiting YNP. Our room was very clean and neat and the staff were very friendly. It's a nice budget place to stay when visiting Yellowstone National Park. It's convenient to restaurants (I recommend Running Bear Pancake House, The Buffalo, and Pete's Pizza for food). It has a small indoor pool with a goofy slide and a hot tub--we didn't use either of these amenities. It's convenient to get into Yellowstone NP. They offer free breakfast, but you'll want to skip that amenity. It's not good at all. However, I understand from the staff that the hotel has a new owner, so they are still figuring out the breakfast thing, so maybe by next year it will be worth it. Also be advised that they do not clean rooms while you are staying there. The rooms are cleaned after you check out. I'd stay here again given its cleanliness and the friendliness of the staff.
