Stayed as part of a tour group. Location is a bit out of town- around 15/20mins walk. Walked back from town when it was dark & was glad I had company as it might have felt quite long & lonely for a solo female. Hotel is close to the trainline so may hear noise from that in the morning/evening. Twin room was a double bed then an extra single bed. Card needed to operate the lights/power but room itself opened with a standard key and the connection between key and card was a little awkward. There's a ramp to use to reception instead of steps but the entry to the ramp is rough gravel, so doesn't make it much easier with luggage than just using the steps. Breakfast was tasty with reasonable range of options. They opened early as a favour to the tour group but standard breakfast start time of 8.30 seemed on the late side. Trattoria next door but otherwise not much immediately around the hotel. There are bottles of water in the room but 1.50 charge each (500ml). If I returned to Cefalu I'd stay nearer the centre where there's more going on & to be closer to a supermarket.

As a family of four we really enjoyed two days on our round trip of Sicily at this beautiful hotel. The hotel has everything you need. It has clean and spacious rooms, a tasty breakfast, a great pool area, private beaches with a marvelous scenery and the possibility to do yoga classes and use the gym. July is really hot. The kids spent basically all day at the pool and really enjoyed it. Just watch out not to get sunburned. Another thing to watch out for is that it is extremely slippery around the pool. We saw three guests fall, one who broke two toes falling. Maybe the hotel should put up more signs to encourage cautiousness around the pool. The rooms were really clean and you get an extra beach bag with towels for the pool or beach. The breakfast offered plenty of possibilities, eggs of all kinds, coffees, bread, cereals etc. they also offer delicious gluten free options. The yoga class is really recommended. Angela, a Swedish yoga instructor, offers classes four times a week. The spa treatment is also recommended and at the gym you have a decent selection of multi-gyms, treadmills, dumbbells etc. We stayed at room with even numbers and unfortunately an infant called our room 15-20 times during our stay, waking us up both mornings at six something and waking our kids up one of the nights. The hotel of course couldn’t help this and offered us to check out one hour later on the last day, and a complementary drink. It was really annoying so if you can avoid staying at 111 it might be smart, but hopefully the hotel finds a way to block these kind of random calls. The hotel is located a 15-20 minute walk away from Cefalu. Due to the parking situation in Cefalu I would recommend to take a taxi. It should cost you around 11-12 EUR.
Ma&Mi Light Rooms

The place it’s behind the train station, but any way you have to walk up- all around like 15minutes. It’s on 2nd floor apartment no Lift. It’s 4 or 5 rooms inside. Room it’s normal size. Bathroom it’s little bit small. There is no water. The air conditioner was on my left side my head .. so it’s possible to turn on - otherwise next day you will be sick. So about the breakfast There was a plate with 3 very small pieces of cheese - like 1sm -3sm mix together with meat - so I ask the girl for clean cheese 🧀 that’s not mix with meat - she say - she only that and tell me to take out the meat …so this is no comment . Was yogurt with sugar- my guy is diabetic. Was cake - that’s also sugar.and she have it some kind of very old apricot .. so we couldn’t eat anything.. just drink espresso.. what we understand it’s - once you pay - they don’t F… care more about you. Pity I don’t do foto for the breakfast.. I was so disappointed.. the way she talk to me .. that we go in our room .. take our language and we go. So we will never go more there.

From the airport is a 2 hour ride so with kids they need there tablets. As raw dogging as the youth call it is beyond them looking out the window 😂 For an all inclusive there is a set menu each day in the main restaurant which is a refreshing change for an all inclusive. They have Sicily night, and all the flavours of Italy which is great. This means if you like chicken nuggets and chips, it’s not for you. They have a voucher system to allow you to go to various restaurants in the hotel which is a great change of scenery and taste. Pizzeria, Garden restaurant (Italian), Grill, Beach restaurant and main restaurant. The main restaurant is your base and you sit at the same table. Breakfast is very Italian, pastries and coffee or hotdog sausages eggs and tomatoes cheeses etc. They offer pack lunches if you are going on an early trip. The beach restaurant food is good and the environment is nice, but you have about an hour to eat it, so you have to turn up on time which is a very rushed scenario. Ok so the beach, you’ll need swim shoes due to it being sharp sand and stones. Free 10min bus ride. The beach in Cefalu is sandy and nicer but super crowded. Bus ride is 20mins and is about £4.20 return. Those beach shoes come in handy for the free water park on all inclusive though you have to pay for good and drink in the park . The park is good but gets busy at weekends. The issue there is you need to pay £10 for 2 beds and a parasol. The hotel pools are shallow warm and good, no issues with sun beds. Towels are £2 each for the week for laundry and a returnable £20 each. Crazy for a Hotel, that claims 5 star status? Now the penny pinch continues with no drinks in your fridge, no mini bar, no bottles of free water apart from at breakfast lunch and dinner which you can’t take out of the restaurant? You can’t fill your own bottles. So you order little plastic cups of water all the time because you are so dehydrated. Obvs you can go to a supermarket in Cefalu, but who at a hotel wants to do that, this absolutely ruins the whole experience. Entertainment was typical, but some not suitable for family young kids entertainment.
Astro Suite Hotel

We have just returned from a week in the beautiful town of Cefalu in Sicily - an area which we first visited in 2017. This time we stayed in the Astro Suite Hotel and here are our comments (some positive and some negative) which hopefully will help others to make a decision on where to stay: The good: Location - the hotel is in an excellent location being just across the road from the main beach at Cefalu and less than a 10 minute walk from the old town where there are lots of restaurants and shops to wander around. The best restaurants we found were La Brace and Le Chat Noir. There is a very good supermarket (Deco) around a 5 minute walk from the hotel which stays open until 10pm. Also, the train station at Cefalu has trains direct to Palermo in under an hour should you wish to visit the capital. Cleanliness - the rooms and all areas of the hotel are super clean. Towels are changed daily. Kitchenette - well equipped with everything you'd need if you wanted to cook. Staff - without exception, the staff are all very friendly and helpful. Swimming pool - the hotel has a small swimming pool with sun loungers. The pool is rather shallow but fine if you have young children. The not-so-good: Breakfast - the hotel serves a continental-style breakfast, so no hot food at all. We found the choice to be rather limited. I think the hotel should offer a wider selection of cold meats and cheeses than they currently do. Sun loungers on beach - the hotel does not have its own private area of the beach and therefore the sun loungers come at a charge. For us (3 people) this came to 35 euros per day (and more expensive at the weekend). So if you are staying for a week or more, this can add up to quite a significant amount. The hotel does loan parasols free of charge though if you don't mind laying out a towel on the sand. Beach hawkers - there seems to be a large number of people walking up and down the beach trying to sell you stuff all day long. Gets rather tiresome. Check-out - the time for checking out of the hotel on your last day is 10.30am. However, if you are not leaving for the airport until later in the day the only facility the hotel can offer you to have a shower before you leave is the outside shower by the side of the pool and then to get changed in the toilet cubicle near reception. Not very satisfactory!
Le Calette Bay

My wife and 20 year old daughter spent 2 nights at Le Calette after spending our first few days in Taormina and we absolutely loved it. You quickly realize that the location is a gem with its own secluded bay however still very close (20 min walk) around the point to the charming town and busy beaches. What made me ensure to provide this review was that despite 2 days of pampering, great beach time, great meals and service, we found ourselves with a painful surprise when we went to pack up our rental car and move to our next stop. Our car had a large dent on one of the rear passenger doors. Fortunately it turned out I was at a resort where they truly do care and since we had not moved our car since we arrived we asked the hotel to help us as the prospect of paying a large deductible was going to dramatically sour our experience. All I can say is that the hotel GM was fantastic to deal with and helped us turn a negative into a positive. We’ll be sure to stay at this resort next time we’re back in Sicily as we stayed at several that were luxury but it’s always the attention to detail and service experience that sets the great ones apart.
